We are hiring for a Junior Functional/Automation Tester opportunity.

1 Public Trust clearance required Role Overview We are seeking a Junior Functional/Automation Tester with 1 to 2 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, test automation, or related software development roles. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of functional and regression testing, defect management, API testing, automation, Git, and CI/CD concepts. This role is well suited for an early career QA professional who is eager to develop automation skills, work within established team standards, learn modern testing practices, and contribute to quality engineering activities in a collaborative environment. Required Skills
- 1 to 2 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, test automation, or related software development roles, including internships, co-ops, or equivalent project experience
- Foundational knowledge of functional testing, regression testing, and defect lifecycle
- Some experience creating or maintaining automated tests using common tools or frameworks
- Basic understanding of API testing, including request and response validation, status codes, and authentication fundamentals
- Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language such as Java, JavaScript, or SQL
- Familiarity with Git and standard development workflows, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts and pipeline based testing using tools such as Jenkins or GitLab
- Understanding of secure data handling practices in testing activities, including least privilege, protection of sensitive data, and safe logging
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document test results and defects
- Strong collaboration skills and willingness to learn from feedback and follow established team standards Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Agile delivery practices and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts
- Familiarity with change and configuration management tools such as VersionOne and ServiceNow
- Familiarity with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices
- Introductory knowledge of cloud and messaging concepts such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Pub/Sub, and Kafka
- Interest in distributed systems testing
- Exposure to container technologies such as Docker
- Familiarity with modern application architectures including microservices and serverless
- Familiarity with approved AI assisted tools such as OpenCode, Claude Code, and Gemini Vertex AI for test creation and analysis Key Responsibilities
- Perform functional and regression testing activities
- Create, maintain, and automated test cases using established frameworks and tools
- Support API testing by validating requests, responses, status codes, and authentication behavior
- Document test results, defects, and testing observations clearly
- Participate in defect identification, tracking, and retesting activities
- Follow Git based development workflows, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews
- Support pipeline based testing within CI/CD environments
- Follow secure data handling and testing practices
- Collaborate with developers, QA team members, and other project stakeholders throughout the SDLC
- Participate in Agile development and testing activities
- Learn and apply modern testing practices involving cloud, messaging, containers, and distributed applications
- Leverage approved AI assisted development tools w appropriate to support test creation and analysis
- Follow established quality, security, documentation, and team standards Education Requirement
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
