Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Test Engineering Lead will perform the following functions: Work with the TE Manager to establish priorities for work done by the Test Engineers Act as the SME for test development, advising the Test Engineers with regards to difficult issues in the test process and failures that are a challenge to troubleshoot Represent the QMN Test Engineering team in meetings with customers and keep abreast of issues affecting product testing so as to accurately report on these Contribute to the test development effort for specific projects, including scripting where appropriate and needed. Become adept at retrieving and analyzing test data to reveal issues that cause frequent fails and/or hangs during the test process Work with corporate R&D and Test Engineering teams to improve test strategy, reducing test time where possible without sacrificing quality Guide the creation of work instructions and online documentation for testing, troubleshooting, and repairing products This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identifies issues affecting test efficiency and works with the TE Manager to determine priorities of addressing these Help to keep TE team focused on these issues as they are identified Provides leadership for all tests and diagnostics used in product engineering, manufacturing, returned material repair and supplier quality Develops and maintains automated test processes as necessary, alongside other Test Engineers Analyzes failure reports and makes recommendations to improve the test process as well as quality assurance processes, practices and procedures Makes good technical decisions and completes tasks & assignments under only general direction Recognize problems that need further investigation, seek assistance when needed, demonstrate initiative and self-motivation Independently determine and develop approach to solutions, under only very general direction Provide solutions for wide range of difficult problems Ensure common test tool set is developed for use in manufacturing and service
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent discipline, or alternatively 3 years of experience in Software Development. Experience in leadership roles, whether as team lead, supervisor, or mentor Demonstrable skills and the ability to discuss, in depth, the technical aspects of project experience A proven track record of high productivity in test programming and debugging
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Experience with Python scripting and Linux shell scripts to test computer hardware and verify hardware configurations Familiarity with server architecture including: hardware, firmware and drivers Experience with network technologies and protocols, switches, routers etc. Familiarity with PXE boot process, Automated Test Network, and OS download Experience, and solid understanding of the hardware product development lifecycle, software development methodologies, change management, release management, configuration management Experience with client / server environments

Ability to build internal and external cross functional relationships Project Management Skills Proven knowledge and demonstrated application of engineering concepts and skills Experience in testing methodologies and theories, test plan development, test case design, test execution practices, optimization of test coverage versus costs, data collection and root cause analysis techniques, and reporting practices Strong written, verbal and presentation skills Strong sense of process, detail and follow through Strong problem solving and analytical skills Ability to multi-task across problem domains and various contexts Ability to work independently and with a team Willingness to travel both domestically and abroad (10%)
