A Virginia state university in Petersburg is adding an IT hardware asset analyst to its technology services team. This is a contract seat through IEC Tech Inc., a Virginia SWaM certified small business. It runs through June 30, 2027, and extensions are common but never promised.
What you would do:
manage the university's IT hardware and software assets from purchase through retirement. That means keeping the inventory accurate, coordinating asset transfers between departments within five to seven business days, working the IT asset management queue in the ticketing system every day and closing tickets within seven to ten business days with clear notes, helping with equipment installs, moves, adds and changes and the PC refresh program, running periodic physical inventories, tracking hardware warranties, maintenance agreements, leases and vendor contracts and their expiration dates, helping track software licenses and auditing what is installed on desktops, servers and network gear, reconciling the software repository against the approved software list twice a year, and producing the weekly asset management reports. What the university needs to see, and it scores each line, so please show it plainly on your resume:
- Two years or more of IT asset management.
- Two years or more of hardware inventory management.
- Two years or more working in an IT service management (ITSM) or ticketing system.
- Two years or more with Microsoft Excel.
- Two years or more of asset lifecycle management.

- The ability to lift, pull or push up to 50 pounds as a regular part of the job.
