Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers on long-distance OTR routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of cargo such as hazardous materials or dangerous goods according to hazardous materials regulations. Transport a variety of freight types including refrigerated goods, automobile transportation, or other specialized cargo with precision and care. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify truck safety, including checking for mechanical issues, load security, and compliance with safety standards. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route adjustments, or any incidents encountered during transit. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across diverse terrains. Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and familiarity with truck loading and unloading procedures. Knowledge of logistics cargo handling for various freight types such as hazardous materials, dangerous goods, flatbed loads, or tanker shipments. Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance at all times. Skilled in using GPS navigation tools for efficient route planning on over-the-road (OTR) routes. Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely while loading or unloading freight. Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, professionalism, and customer service experience as a delivery driver.
