Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 6 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping. Experience in application development in one platform/area (e.g., web, iOS, Android, CompDes, or XR). Experience building or prototyping across Web and Native Mobile platforms (iOS/SwiftUI or Android/Jetpack Compose) Experience with UI animation mechanics, gesture dynamics, spring physics, cubic-bezier curves, and rendering performance.
Preferred qualifications:
7 years of experience developing responsive, adaptive, and performant websites and applications. 6 years of experience as a front-end developer, UX Engineer, creative or design technologist, or in a prototyping design environment. Experience architecting design token pipelines, developer harnesses, or design system component libraries. Experience integrating AI models, LLMs, prompt engineering, generative UI workflows, or agentic developer tools into daily engineering workflows. As a Senior UX Engineer on the motion.code team you will help drive motion excellence in Search, bridging design intent and production software through living Google3 code and open developer pipelines. You will work on complex technical issues and you will have a playground to advance modern Search. In this role, you will bring deep AI fluency to your everyday workflow, experimenting across Web, iOS, and Android to translate bleeding-edge AI interaction models into performant, production-ready code alongside motion designers, UX leads, and Search Software Engineers. Responsibilities Author production-grade front-end code and reusable Google3 components across Web (TypeScript, HTML5, modern CSS, Web Animations API) and Native Mobile (iOS/SwiftUI and Android/Jetpack Compose). Build Live Experiments (LEs) and interactive sandboxes that validate user feel, frame rates, and latency under real-world LLM streaming conditions. Develop and maintain mo.co.labs tooling, pipelines, and frameworks that empower partner teams, uplevel cross-functional craft, and dramatically shorten the design-to-implementation timeline. Systemize motion tokens, container transforms, and fluid transition frameworks into the Search Design System (SDS) for scalable governance. Provide technical leadership on ambiguous 0-to-1 interaction explorations, partnering across UX, SWE, and Product teams.
