Job Description

About ParentConnect ParentConnect is an AI-assisted platform helping expecting and new parents build meaningful local community. We connect parents with people nearby who are in a similar stage of life and make it easier to turn those connections into real-world relationships, meetups, and trusted local resources. Following a successful beta in Spring 2026, we're preparing for our first major market launch in Chicago and building the foundation for expansion into communities across the country. About the Role We're looking for a thoughtful, hands-on UX / Product Designer to lead the end-to-end design of the next version of ParentConnect. For a community platform like ours, design is central to the product. You'll work closely with the founders, users, and lead engineer to deeply understand what parents need and turn those insights into an intuitive, beautiful, and easy-to-use product experience. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys both the strategic thinking behind a product and the hands-on work of bringing flows, wireframes, systems, and polished designs to life. What You'll Do Lead user experience and product design across the ParentConnect platform Conduct user research and translate what we learn into clear product and design decisions Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for our next launch Develop and maintain a cohesive design system and visual language Design experiences that feel warm, trustworthy, intuitive, and easy to use Partner closely with the founders and lead engineer to refine designs, resolve implementation details, and ship a launch-ready product Continuously improve the product based on user feedback, product performance, and community behavior You Might Be a Great Fit If You... Love getting close to users and understanding what they actually need before jumping into design Have strong product instincts and can think beyond individual screens to the overall user experience Are equally comfortable working through early flows and wireframes and producing polished final designs Enjoy working closely with founders and engineers in a collaborative, fast-moving environment Have a high bar for usability, visual quality, and the small details that make a consumer product feel great Are energized by an early-stage environment where you can help shape the product from the ground up Requirements Strong portfolio of consumer digital product work Experience designing mobile apps or other consumer-facing digital products Experience translating user research into flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished product experiences Strong understanding of UX principles and design systems Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small team Experience with community, social, marketplace, parenting, family, or other consumer products is a plus. Role Details Part-time contract role Chicago-area candidates preferred; hybrid and remote arrangements may be considered Opportunity for the role to grow as ParentConnect scales How to Apply Please apply with your resume, portfolio, and a short note telling us why you're interested in ParentConnect. Your portfolio should include examples of consumer app or digital product work. We're especially interested in seeing how you think through the full design process — from understanding the user problem through the final product experience.
