Doors of Divergence is an award-winning immersive entertainment concept that blends escape-room gameplay with live theater, storytelling, and guest interaction. We are looking for energetic, dependable performers who can help turn each game into a memorable experience - not simply supervise a room. Position Overview The Actor / Game Master is both a performer and an experience host. You will welcome guests, set the tone for their adventure, perform in character when required, monitor gameplay, deliver clues without breaking immersion, keep the experience running safely and on time, and reset the room accurately for the next group. Key Responsibilities Perform scripted and semi-improvised character interactions as part of an immersive escape-room experience. Welcome guests, explain rules and safety expectations, and prepare groups for their experience. Monitor games in real time and provide clues or guidance while preserving the story and atmosphere. Adapt your performance and communication style to different groups, ages, personalities, and energy levels. Maintain character and professionalism even when guests behave unpredictably or the game requires improvisation. Reset rooms, props, puzzles, locks, and scenic elements accurately after every game using established reset procedures. Identify and report damaged props, technical issues, safety concerns, or anything that could affect the next performance. Keep guest-facing and backstage areas clean, organized, and ready for operation. Help manage game timing and guest flow so experiences begin and end on schedule. Work closely with other actors, Game Masters, managers, and operations staff to deliver a consistent experience. Assist with photos, guest questions, reviews, merchandise, or other front-desk responsibilities when needed. What We're Looking For Comfortable performing in front of strangers and interacting directly with guests. Strong communication skills, positive energy, and the ability to think quickly. Ability to memorize scripts, character beats, game procedures, and safety instructions. Comfort with improvisation and responding naturally when guests do something unexpected. Dependable and punctual; immersive experiences rely on the entire team being ready on time. Detail-oriented enough to reset puzzles and props exactly as required. Able to accept coaching and repeat a performance consistently while still keeping it fresh. Customer-service mindset and the ability to stay calm with difficult or frustrated guests. Previous acting, improv, haunted-attraction, escape-room, hospitality, or entertainment experience is helpful, but not required for the right person. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and move throughout the venue for extended periods. Ability to move and reset normal game props and equipment safely. Comfort working in theatrical environments that may include low lighting, sound effects, confined spaces, or other immersive elements. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled; these are typically our busiest operating periods. Schedule, Pay & Growth This is an hourly, schedule-based entertainment position. Specific pay, expected weekly hours, and availability requirements will be discussed during the hiring process. Team members who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, guest-service skills, and operational knowledge may have opportunities to take on additional Game Master, lead, training, or management responsibilities. Why Doors of Divergence? This is not a traditional escape-room attendant position. Doors of Divergence combines puzzles, immersive theater, character performance, and interactive storytelling. If you enjoy acting, improv, escape rooms, haunted attractions, themed entertainment, or creating unforgettable moments for people, this role gives you the opportunity to perform while learning the operational side of immersive entertainment.
