Roundtable Learning is seeking a full-time 3D Designer to join our talented team. This role focuses on modeling, texturing, and optimizing 3D assets for a variety of virtual reality and augmented reality projects. Each project is unique - tasks could range from creating a 3D environment for one project to highly detailed props for the next. The ideal candidate for this role possesses a versatile 3D skillset that allows them to solve challenges creatively and efficiently. In addition to creating 3D geometry and textures, the 3D Designer is responsible for importing their assets into the Unity project scenes, ensuring all import attributes are correctly applied and confirming the geometry and textures appear in the project as expected. Setting up scene lighting and light baking is also required to ensure the creative vision is accurately represented for the client. There may also be requirements for travel to client sites to acquire reference images, measurements and laser scans to assist with accurate rendering of unique client products or environments. This is a full-time position in our office located in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Please provide examples of work upon application.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Model, UV unwrap, texture, and optimize 3D assets. Review available informational materials to ensure that models are high quality, accurate, and fulfill the unique needs of each project in regards to functionality, scope, and performance. Import and set up models and textures in Unity. Help establish the overall look of the project by combining artistic skills and technical know-how to create visually appealing, well-lit scenes. Provide accurate time estimates for the completion of tasks and proactively communicate any delays or challenges. Work together with the 3D Design Team Lead to ensure that you have all the support needed to complete tasks. Collaborate with our team of fellow 3D designers to support the creation of models, textures, characters, animators, and more. Exchange creative feedback with team members constructively, and complete revisions efficiently. Set up Unity scene lighting, light baking and quality control. Attend weekly meetings with clients, team leaders, developers and project managers. Daily/weekly reporting on progress status.
REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency using 3D modeling software and tools, such as Autodesk Maya or Blender, Substance Painter, and Photoshop. Understanding of game art pipeline techniques, including but not limited to low poly modeling, low to high poly baking, and other methods of optimization. Experience using Unity for 3D asset setup. Ability to create high-quality, accurate 3D models using photo references. Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with team members.
