A Back End Developer or Engineer is responsible for server-side web application logic and integration of the work front-end web developers do. Usually writes web services and APIs used by front-end developers and mobile application developers.
About Us We're building the future of pediatric care. At Ollie, we've created a modern healthcare experience that combines pediatrics, mental wellness, and technology into one seamless system for families. No waiting rooms. No fragmented care. We already have a live product used by real families. Now we need the right person to take ownership and evolve it. The Opportunity This is not a typical developer role. You are stepping into an existing, multi-platform system and will take it to the next level.
You will own:
A Flutter-based application (mobile, web, desktop) A web portal (TypeScript-based) Backend integrations and APIs The evolution of how we use AI inside the product and development workflow This is a builder role , not a maintenance role. What You'll Be Working With Core Stack Frontend / App Layer Flutter (single codebase for iOS, Android, Web, Desktop) Responsive layouts across devices Web Portal TypeScript
SCSS / HTML
Backend / APIs REST APIs (dev / staging / production environments) Python (light usage) PostgreSQL System Context Live production system with real users Multi-environment deployment (dev, staging, prod) What You'll Do Take ownership of an existing multi-platform system Improve, refactor, and scale the codebase Build and ship new features end-to-end Optimize performance across mobile and web Integrate AI into: Development workflow Future product features Work directly with the founder to prioritize what matters AI-Native Development (Non-Negotiable) We build with AI. Every day. Tools like Anthropic's Claude, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot are part of our workflow—not an afterthought.
You should already:
Use AI agents to write, debug, and refactor code Be comfortable prompting models to solve real engineering problems Think in terms of speed, iteration, and leverage You should
NOT:
Be learning/using AI tools for the first time here Rely primarily on traditional "Google + Stack Overflow" workflows We don't expect perfection—but we do expect fluency and curiosity . Who You Are 2-4 years of real-world experience (or equivalent building experience) Comfortable across frontend and backend Able to learn new stacks quickly (Flutter experience is required) You've shipped something real end-to-end You like cleaning up systems and making them better You already use AI tools and agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) in your workflow You want ownership , not just a paycheck Experience working on live production systems What Makes This Role Different You inherit a real product with real users You will have true ownership You'll simplify and improve a system built by multiple developers You'll work in an AI-first environment You'll move fast and see real-world impact Compensation $80,000 - $120,000 (depending on experience) Fully remote High growth opportunity as the company scales Who This Is NOT For Someone who only wants to work on one layer Someone who needs constant direction Someone uncomfortable owning existing systems Final Note We're not looking for the "perfect resume." We're looking for someone who: Thinks like a builder Moves fast Wants to own something real If that's you, we want to talk.
