No sponsorship available Opportunity available for a Local Minneapolis Backend Developer with strong hands-on experience in Java and Python to join an engineering team focused primarily on backend development, APIs, and services. The ideal candidate is a collaborative engineer who enjoys modern development practices including TDD, automated testing, CI/CD, pair programming, and continuous delivery . Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java, Python, Spring Boot, and Groovy Build and support event-driven applications using Kafka Work with distributed databases such as CockroachDB or similar technologies Develop automated tests and maintain high-quality production code Participate in TDD, pair programming, and continuous delivery Troubleshoot and resolve application issues Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders Participate in architecture and technical design discussions Contribute to engineering standards and best practices Provide occasional frontend development support using React Required Qualifications Strong hands-on Java development experience Strong hands-on Python development experience Experience developing APIs and backend services Experience with CI/CD Strong automated testing experience Excellent communication and collaboration skills Comfortable working in a highly collaborative development environment Preferred Qualifications Kafka experience Distributed database experience Spring Boot Groovy Experience with TDD Pair programming experience Continuous Delivery experience XP/Agile engineering practices FastAPI or other Python web frameworks React experience Architecture and technical design experience The successful candidate will be someone who: Truly believes in TDD and XP practices , rather than simply having exposure to them Is vocal, collaborative, and comfortable sharing their thought process Enjoys pair programming Is willing to challenge ideas and contribute technical opinions Takes ownership and accountability for their work Is passionate about engineering quality and continuous improvement Requirements Must be local to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area Must be open to working hybrid No C2C No sponsorship available ITR Group offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, and 401(k) for eligible employees.
