A Back End Developer or Engineer is responsible for server-side web application logic and integration of the work front-end web developers do. Usually writes web services and APIs used by front-end developers and mobile application developers.
Approximately 3-7 years Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Java Backend Engineer to join an enterprise engineering team in Plano, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing and supporting Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Kafka-based applications in enterprise production environments. This role requires an engineer who understands more than simply building basic microservices. The successful candidate should have practical experience designing and operating scalable, resilient, high-performance services and be able to explain their technical decisions, production challenges, and individual contributions in detail. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications using Java and Spring Boot . Develop scalable and resilient microservices for high-volume production environments. Build and integrate event-driven applications using Apache Kafka . Design services with considerations for performance, scalability, concurrency, resiliency, and fault tolerance . Develop APIs and backend services following enterprise architecture and coding standards. Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and support applications in cloud environments . Work with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud services to build and operate production applications. Work with relational or NoSQL databases based on application requirements. Implement appropriate retry, timeout, error-handling, and failure-recovery mechanisms. Analyze production issues and perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and technical design discussions. Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders. Ensure applications are production-ready and capable of handling expected transaction volumes and concurrent users. Clearly communicate technical decisions, implementation approaches, and individual contributions.
