Job Description

Murrey's Disposal, a trusted name in environmental services and a proud member of the Waste Connections family, is seeking a safety-focused Transfer Station Laborer to join our team in Fife, WA. In this hands-on, outdoor role, you'll start by supporting general transfer station operations, including container washing, pressure washing, and picking up litter to help maintain a clean and safe work environment. As you grow in the role, you'll have the opportunity to advance into operating heavy equipment and taking on additional responsibilities within our waste management operations that serve the local community.
Pay:
$26.00-$26.50 per hour (DOE) with regular wage increases
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (5-7 hours of overtime per week as needed) This is a hands‑on, outdoor position at our transfer station. You'll begin by supporting general site operations, including keeping work areas clean and organized, container washing, pressure washing, and picking up litter to maintain a safe and efficient environment. As you become familiar with the site and demonstrate strong performance, you'll have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment, including skid steers, front loaders, yard goats, excavators, and grizzly systems as you grow in the role. What You'll Do (Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities) Start by supporting general transfer station operations, including cleaning, pressure washing, container washing, and litter control Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free work areas and workstations Follow company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements at all times Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to meet operational goals Take direction from senior employees and adapt to changing assignments as needed Safely operate equipment such as skid steers, loaders, yard goats, excavators, and grizzly systems as you gain experience in the role. Learn to conduct equipment inspections, identify issues, and report maintenance needs What Success Looks Like (Signals That You'll Thrive Here) You take safety seriously and follow procedures consistently You're reliable: strong attendance, on time, and ready to work You communicate clearly, support your teammates, and handle changes positively You take pride in keeping the site clean and well‑maintained You're willing to learn new skills, including equipment operation, over time Work Environment & Physical Expectations Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind) Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and physical activity throughout the day Ability to lift 50+ pounds unassisted regularly Exposure to dust, noise, odors, uneven terrain, and moving equipment traffic Required Qualifications Ability to perform physical, hands‑on work throughout the shift Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Willingness to work outdoors year‑round with strong situational awareness Proven commitment to safety, including PPE use and following procedures Ability to read, speak, and understand English for safety communication (Spanish is a plus) Reliable attendance and ability to work scheduled hours, including overtime as needed Willingness to take direction and grow into additional responsibilities, including equipment operation
