Transmission Technician & Drivetrain SpecialistLocation:
Alma, MISchedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (No Weekends!)Role Type:

Starting range of $15.00 - $25.00/hr. Final offer will be based on your depth of experience and technical proficiency; we highly value specialized expertise and are willing to compensate accordingly for top-tier skill sets. Advanced Diagnostics:
Beyond general troubleshooting, this role involves using specialized On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) tools and scan tools to read input/output RPM, perform shift tests, and check hydraulic circuits and electronic controls.Precision Rebuilding:
Performing complete disassembly and assembly of automatic and manual transmissions, transaxles, and differentials, often using manufacturer-specific tools and repair techniques.Component Refurbishing:
Inspecting and repairing specific internal components such as clutches, gearboxes, sliding joints, propeller shafts, and universal units.Preventative Maintenance:
Conducting high-level maintenance, including transmission flush services, filter replacements, and fluid analysis to prevent future failures.Documentation & Quality Control:
Recording all maintenance activities in management systems (like Azzier or similar Work Order Management Systems) and signing off on Vehicle Condition Reports to ensure safety and compliance.Skills & Qualifications:
Michigan State Mechanic Certification Significant hands-on experience specifically with drivetrain components like transfer cases and differentials, moving beyond general automotive repair. A deep understanding of mechanical, electrical/electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is essential for modern vehicle repair. The ability to assimilate knowledge from various settings and apply it to complex mechanical failures using professional judgment. The strength to lift heavy automotive parts and a steadfast commitment to shop safety skills, particularly when working with high-pressure hydraulic equipment.
