Job Description

Under the supervision of the Airport Operations Manager, the Airport Summer Management Intern supports airport operations, maintenance, administration, and special projects. The incumbent provides hands-on experience in the day-to-day functions of the airport, including airport inspections, planning, compliance, event coordination, and real-world operational decision-making. Support Airport Operations with department goals and initiatives, environmental compliance requirements, wildlife management, airport access control training, and regulated garbage handling. Assist with various airport inspections and reporting. Creates and updates management reports related to operational efficiency and safety, along with various research and analysis projects. Assist with aircraft counts, noise monitoring efforts, hangar leasing support, and general administrative tasks. Become familiar with airport governing documents, including the Master Plan, Strategic Plan, Capital Improvement Plan, Rules & Regulations, and Minimum Standards. Learn about city management processes and reporting functions. Assist with Maintenance Division projects and airfield inspections. Support airport special events, community outreach, and community relations efforts. Manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly, or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events. Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent AND Currently enrolled at a Junior or Senior level in an aviation management or related degree program at an accredited University or College; OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Conditions of Employment:
Valid Texas Driver's License. Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen. Must be able to obtain Airport Movement Area certification within two weeks of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of work safety practices, procedures, and protocols. Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances. Ability to demonstrate English language proficiency as required by FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210 20.Skilled in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong analytical skills. Ability to interact tactfully and professionally with the public. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Work is generally performed indoors but may involve limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. This is a nonexempt position. Routine schedule is 40 hours per week for 12 weeks. Monday through Friday. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. May be required to work overtime if needed.
