QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires knowledge of the provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code as it applies to operating vehicles and transporting students; basic first aid practices, procedures, techniques; safe driving practices as well as the knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, tools, and equipment; safe use and operation of equipment and chemicals used in custodial work. Must possess the skill to read and write at a level necessary to perform the required duties; understand and carry out oral and written instructions in an independent manner, establish and maintain proper student conduct in school vehicle; drive a bus safely and efficiently; exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving; maintain a valid certification as a school bus driver according to State regulations; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties. Must possess the ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties. One year of experience in custodial or general labor work is required and one year of experience as a bus driver or truck driver.
MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE AND MUST POSSESS OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN A SCHOOL BUS DRIVER'S CERTIFICATE. DRIVING RECORDS MUST BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RESTRICTIONS SET FORTH BY THE CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE. A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT. MUST SUBMIT A RECENT DMV

DRIVING RECORD WITH APPLICATION. DUTIES OF POSITION
Under supervision transport students to and from school within a designated route and ensure the safety of the students while passengers in the school vehicle. This job is responsible for the safe operation of a school bus ensuring the safety of student passengers while meeting established bus schedule. Also, under supervision perform general cleaning, custodial functions, grounds maintenance and gardening work at an assigned school site or facility. Exercises responsibility for the general cleanliness of assigned locations and performs a variety of duties in the upkeep of assigned school site and related areas.
