Job Description

Drive for Marin Airporter, An Employee-Owned Company! Looking for a stable driving career where you aren't just an employee, but a stakeholder? At Marin Airporter , we are looking for professional, reliable, and safety-minded individuals to operate our 30- and 40-foot Gillig hybrid transit buses and 20-seat Ford/Eldorado cutaway buses on local fixed routes. As an employee-owned company (ESOP) , our team members acquire an ownership interest in the company at no cost after their first year of employment, allowing you to share directly in our financial success!
What You'll Do Keep Marin Moving:
Safely and efficiently operate heavy transit buses along designated local fixed routes, keeping strictly to pre-arranged time schedules through traffic and Bay Area weather.
Provide Excellent Service:
Greet passengers, collect fares, verify transit passes, and answer routing or directional questions with a highly professional, welcoming attitude.
Ensure Accessibility:
Safely operate wheelchair lifts and securement systems to assist passengers with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Stay Sharp on
Safety:
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle mechanical and safety inspections daily.
Communicate Clearly:
Coordinate constantly with Dispatch via two-way radio to report traffic delays, passenger incidents, or mechanical issues.
What We Are Looking For Minimum Qualifications Age:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Driver's License:
A valid California driver's license (Class C or higher) with a clean driving record.
CA CLP:
A valid California Commercial Learner's Permit with Airbrakes Endorsement and Passenger Permit.
Driving History:
Proven history of safe driving through prior DMV records
Experience:
Prior passenger transit experience is preferred, but not required. We hire for attitude and train for skill!
Physical & Environmental Capabilities:
Must be physically capable of sitting for prolonged periods (up to 80% of the workday), bending/kneeling to fasten heavy wheelchair restraints, and working safely around active vehicular traffic, engine noise, and outdoor weather variations.
Schedule Availability:
Route schedules vary based on business need. Evening and weekend availability is required for current routes.
Licenses & Endorsements:
Paid CDL Training Program What You Need Before Your First Day (Applicant Prerequisite): To qualify for hire, you must possess, or obtain prior to your start date, a valid California Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) with the following: Class B General Knowledge Passenger (P) Endorsement Permit Air Brake Endorsement Initial DMV Medical Certificate (DL-51) (Please note: Initial CLP permit fees, DMV testing, and initial medical exam costs are personal licensing expenses and are the responsibility of the applicant prior to employment.) What We Provide Once You Join the Team (We Pay You to Train!): Once you start, Marin Airporter handles the rest. We provide 100% paid, onsite training to prepare you for your official drive test and earn your full credentials, including: Full California Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) DMV Medical Certificate (DL-51) Verification of Transit Training (VTT) Certificate Already fully licensed?
