Job Description
Full-Time Student Transportation Van Driver Pay:
$19.85 per hour Make a Difference Every School Day Ellington Public Schools is looking for a dependable, safety-focused individual to join our Transportation Department as a Full-Time Student Transportation Van Driver . In this role, you'll provide safe and reliable transportation for students traveling to and from schools both within and outside the district. If you enjoy working with children and take pride in providing exceptional customer service and safe transportation, we encourage you to apply. Primary Responsibilities Safely transport students on assigned daily routes and extracurricular trips as needed. Conduct and document required pre-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the assigned vehicle. Refuel the vehicle as necessary. Follow all state and federal transportation laws, district policies, and safety procedures. Foster a positive, respectful environment for student passengers. Complete student incident or behavior reports when required. Communicate effectively with supervisors, school staff, and families as needed. Minimum Qualifications Valid Connecticut driver's license required. Must possess a V Endorsement or be willing to obtain one with district support. Candidates holding a CDL with Passenger and School Bus (PS) Endorsements are also encouraged to apply. Ability to successfully complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and pre-employment drug screening. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle. Frequent use of hands and arms for steering and vehicle controls. Must remain attentive and focused throughout the workday while transporting students. Working Environment This position requires operating a school vehicle in varying weather and traffic conditions while maintaining a high level of concentration. The successful candidate must be able to make sound decisions, follow established routes and schedules, and respond calmly and professionally to changing situations involving students or traffic.Position Details Job Type:
