Job Description
Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a School Bus Driver and play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of students to and from school. This energetic position requires a committed professional who thrives on responsible driving, excellent communication, and providing a positive experience for young passengers. As a School Bus Driver, you will be the face of our transportation services, fostering a safe environment while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Your role is essential in supporting students' educational journey and contributing to their well-being every day. Duties Safely operate school buses, according to established routes and schedules. Ensure passenger safety, managing student behavior, and assisting with boarding and disembarking procedures. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle. Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation. Respond quickly to traffic changes or road hazards to maintain schedule integrity and passenger safety. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and emergency responders when necessary. Maintain accurate logs of trips, student counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance reports. Support student discipline by applying behavior management techniques in accordance with school policies. Qualifications Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit vehicle operation. Proven experience driving buses or similar large vehicles; experience working with children is highly preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at state and local levels. Certification in first aid and CPR to respond effectively during emergencies. (If you don't have it, we provide it.) Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, defensive driving techniques, and quick response to traffic changes. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for diverse communities. Strong behavior management skills to handle student discipline positively and effectively.
