Overview Join our dedicated transportation team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable, and friendly transportation for students. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles according to established routes and schedules Ensure passenger safety by following transportation safety regulations, vehicle codes, and emergency response procedures for transportation Assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including providing wheelchair assistance when necessary Maintain discipline and manage student behavior to ensure a safe environment during transit Conduct pre-trip inspections, vehicle checks, and routine maintenance reports to guarantee vehicle safety and readiness Respond quickly to traffic changes, road conditions, or emergencies with appropriate defensive driving techniques and quick decision-making skills Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear English or multilingual skills when needed Follow school policies on student discipline and behavior management while fostering respectful interactions Perform heavy lifting tasks such as loading or unloading equipment or assisting passengers with mobility needs when required Adhere strictly to traffic laws, vehicle operation standards, and transportation safety regulations at all times Experience Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles such as van driver or transit bus operator Knowledge of school bus driving procedures, student discipline strategies, and behavior management techniques Familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents including CPR and emergency stop procedures Experience working with children or in senior care environments is highly desirable Ability to demonstrate defensive driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws at the state and local levels Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or paratransit operation Understanding of transportation safety regulations, vehicle codes, and school policy knowledge is essential Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently Join us in delivering safe journeys that make a difference every day! Pay:
$24.00 - $31.63 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 per week
