Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will operate various types of commercial vehicles to transport passengers, students, or clients safely and efficiently. Your primary focus will be ensuring passenger safety, adhering to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations, and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles in compliance with all state and local driving laws. Transport passengers such as students, seniors, or individuals with special needs, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey. Assist passengers with wheelchair boarding and disembarking, providing wheelchair assistance as needed. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including emergency stop procedures and first aid protocols. Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform pre-trip inspections, and report any mechanical issues promptly. Communicate effectively with passengers using clear language and behavior management techniques to ensure a positive experience. Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments while maintaining a safe driving environment. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation with a strong understanding of passenger safety protocols. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment safely. Excellent communication skills for interacting with passengers of all ages and backgrounds. Familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents including CPR certification is a plus. Strong understanding of student discipline policies and behavior management techniques. Ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations while maintaining composure and professionalism. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable to ensure compassionate passenger care.
