School Bus & Professional Driving General Summary Under general supervision, the Bus Driver works toward meeting the mission of the organization by providing transportation service. This position is responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of UMCH program participants and providing programmatic support with the Senior Department and Youth Department programs. Essential Functions include (but are not limited to): Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle as required Use established routes and designated stops Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required Instruct passengers regarding safety; secure all equipment that is required for each passenger Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather Establish favorable working relationships with other drivers, maintenance personnel, teachers, passengers, and program staff Demonstrate knowledge of state laws and local ordinances Keep accurate records and reports as required, submit in a legible condition, turn in at the specified time Conduct yourself as a professional UMCH staff member at all times Operate all vehicle lifts as necessary Keeping assigned vehicle clean Assist with Food Service during the lunch service period Participate as program support staff during field trips in between bus runs
Qualifications:
(Preferred prior exposure to fund-raising processes and database management) Must be 18 years of age or older. Must hold a high school diploma/equivalent or greater. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "B" endorsement "P" is acceptable Must consent to or provide the following: Documentation of physical exam (DOT) Fingerprint/Criminal Background Check Clearance Department of Human Resource Child Abuse and Neglect Clearance Sex Offender Registry Clearance CPR/First Aid Certified preferred Must exhibit effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; conflict resolution skills are a must. Must be able to relate to diverse individuals from various ages, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, including varying degrees of lifting, pulling, bending, and carrying of heavy objects, including individuals in wheelchairs, walkers, and other supportive equipment, and periodic operation of a manual lift.
