Overview Join our team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students in our community. In this energetic role, you will operate school buses and paratransit vehicles with enthusiasm and professionalism, providing a positive experience for children and their families. Duties Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles along designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols. Ensure the safety of all passengers by following proper child behavior management techniques and conducting pre-trip inspections of the vehicle. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues in clear English or multilingual formats to provide updates or address concerns. Assist children with boarding and exiting the bus, including those requiring special accommodations or childcare support. Maintain accurate logs of routes, passenger counts, and safety checks; complete incident reports if necessary. Conduct routine mechanical checks to identify minor issues and report maintenance needs promptly. Foster a positive environment by engaging with students respectfully and managing behavior professionally. Qualifications Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsement; experience commercial driving preferred. Will train for certification Proven ability to operate vehicles safely in various traffic conditions; familiarity with driving regulations related to school buses or paratransit services. Strong communication skills Experience working with children or in childcare settings; knowledge of behavior management techniques is advantageous. Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle inspections and troubleshooting minor issues. Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating patience, professionalism, and a caring attitude toward students and parents. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively; adherence to safety protocols at all times.
