As a School Bus Driver, you will operate school vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws and safety regulations, providing a secure environment for students during their daily commute. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles according to established routes and schedules Ensure passenger safety by following transportation safety regulations and emergency response procedures for transportation Assist students with boarding and exiting, including wheelchair assistance and behavior management when necessary Maintain order on the bus, enforce student discipline policies, and foster a positive environment Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking vehicle codes, lights, brakes, and safety equipment Respond quickly to traffic changes and communicate effectively with dispatch or supervisors during routes Provide excellent customer service by addressing student needs and ensuring a respectful atmosphere during transit Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus operation Proven experience driving buses Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly preferred Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform routine vehicle maintenance checks Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for diverse communities Understanding of student discipline policies and behavior management techniques Ability to respond promptly to traffic changes and emergency situations with calmness and professionalism Join us today as we drive toward safer streets and happier students!
