Richards ISD is seeking a dependable and responsible Part-Time Bus Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for students during morning and afternoon/evening routes and activities. The ideal candidate will prioritize student safety, demonstrate good judgment, and maintain a professional and courteous manner when interacting with students, parents, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safely transport students to and from school, activities, athletic events, and other approved destinations.
Operate a school bus in accordance with district policies and all applicable state and federal regulations.
Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the school bus.
Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment while students are on the bus.
Follow assigned routes and schedules while maintaining punctuality.
Communicate appropriately with school staff regarding transportation concerns or student issues.
Report mechanical problems, safety concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information.
Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate school bus and passenger endorsements, or the ability to obtain required credentials.
Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, physical examination, and other applicable requirements.
Must demonstrate a safe driving record and responsible driving habits.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
Prior experience transporting students or operating a school bus is preferred but not required.

Schedule will vary based on student transportation needs, extracurricular activities, and district events.
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed while operating a school bus and interacting with students, school personnel, and the public. The position requires the ability to remain attentive for extended periods and respond appropriately to changing road, weather, and passenger conditions.
