Job Description
Overview Join our team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic role, you will operate school buses with enthusiasm and professionalism, providing a positive experience for young passengers while adhering to all safety standards. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses on scheduled routes, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students. Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to maintain a secure environment. Assist students with disabilities or mobility challenges, including wheelchair assistance and paratransit services. Maintain order and discipline onboard by applying behavior management techniques and student discipline policies. Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, signals, and emergency equipment. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with appropriate emergency response procedures for transportation. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear English and multilingual skills if applicable. Ensure passenger safety by adhering to child safety policies, emergency stop procedures, and vehicle operation standards. Handle heavy lifting when necessary for loading or unloading equipment or supplies safely. Complete accurate reports on routes, incidents, or vehicle issues promptly and professionally. Requirements Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, transit bus operation, or similar commercial driving roles. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation. Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly preferred. First aid certification and CPR training are required to respond effectively in emergencies. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for diverse communities. Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist students with mobility needs safely. Familiarity with student discipline policies and behavior management techniques. Knowledge of school policy guidelines related to student safety and transportation protocols. Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and adapt driving accordingly while maintaining focus on passenger safety.
