Job Description
Job Summary Join our team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic and responsible role, you will operate school buses along designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols. Your positive attitude and excellent customer service skills will help create a welcoming environment for students while maintaining punctuality and safety at all times. Duties Safely operate school buses on scheduled routes, including local and over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking brakes, lights, tires, and safety equipment to ensure optimal operation. Adhere strictly to traffic regulations, including air brake operation and manual transmission handling, to maintain safety standards. Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, providing excellent customer service and ensuring their safety throughout the journey. Use fleet GPS tracking systems and mobile devices to navigate routes efficiently and communicate with dispatch as needed. Follow safety protocols for manual handling, heavy lifting, and moving equipment such as pallet jacks or wheelchairs when necessary. Respond appropriately to adverse weather conditions or emergency situations, demonstrating mechanical knowledge and calm decision-making skills. Qualifications Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with School Bus endorsement; experience with bus driving preferred. Proven ability to operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, shuttle buses, or similar large vehicles with manual transmission. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, fleet tracking technology, and mobile communication devices. Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations including air brake operation, and safe lifting practices. Experience in customer service or working with children is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and handle manual handling requirements comfortably. Strong communication skills with the ability to follow directions clearly and professionally.
