In this role, you will be responsible for transporting passengers safely and efficiently to approved appointments, outings, and events. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a clean driving record, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to support individuals with intellectual disabilities. This position is crucial in ensuring a positive and safe experience for everyone. In some instances, the Driver may have to act in a capacity of a DSP, where they may provide in home care to the Person(s) supported. Responsibilities Safely operate a van or shuttle vehicle to transport passengers to various locations. Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers according to scheduled routes. Maintain a clean and well-functioning vehicle by conducting regular inspections and reporting any maintenance needs. Provide exceptional customer service by assisting passengers with boarding and alighting from the vehicle. Escort passengers from door to door as needed. Assist passengers with special needs, including those requiring para-transit services. Communicate effectively with team members regarding schedules, delays, or passenger needs. Report all incidents. Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving. Keep accurate records of trips, including passenger counts and mileage. Provide support as a Direct Support Professional if needed. Able to work evenings and/or weekends if needed. Skills Proven experience as a delivery driver, van driver, or in a similar role. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with diverse groups of people with differing abilities. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with passengers and team members. Familiarity with shuttle driving or commercial driving regulations is an asset. Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS systems or maps. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Experience in bus driving or school bus driving is a plus, particularly for those working with larger groups or specialized transportation needs. Strong organizational skills to manage schedules and routes effectively. Ability to demonstrate patience and care when providing support as both a driver and DSP. Ability to successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
