Job Description
Job Overview We are looking for a reliable, caring, and responsible DSP/Driver to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings. The DSP/Driver will assist individuals with their daily needs, help them participate in community activities, and provide safe transportation from their residence to appointments, programs, recreational activities, and other locations. The employee will be responsible for safely driving the assigned vehicle, following all traffic and safety rules, and making sure individuals are transported safely and on time. The ideal candidate should be dependable, patient, respectful, and comfortable working with individuals who may need different levels of support. Duties Provide daily care, supervision, and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Safely drive individuals from their residence to appointments, programs, activities, and other locations. Operate the assigned/company vehicle responsibly and follow all traffic laws. Assist individuals with entering and exiting the vehicle safely. Ensure individuals are properly secured with seat belts during transportation. Support individuals with daily living activities and community participation. Assist with recreational activities, shopping, appointments, and community outings. Follow each individual's service plan and facility guidelines. Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment. Complete required daily documentation and reports. Communicate with supervisors regarding any concerns or changes. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Requirements Valid New York State Driver's License. Safe and clean driving record. Previous caregiving, or healthcare experience is a plus. Must be comfortable driving individuals as part of the job. Reliable, responsible, and punctual. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must pass required background checks and employment screenings. Must complete all required training and certifications.
