Job Description

The City of Issaquah Parks & Recreation Department is currently seeking a Trip Leader/Van Driver for our Senior Center. This part-time non-regular position leads trips for seniors around the Puget Sound region. This position requires exceptional customer service skills, high energy, and the ability to function independently. Commercial Driving License is not required. Safely operate a 14-passenger bus and/or 12 passenger van. Lead trips to various destinations around the region. Always ensure a safe environment in the van by making sure doors are locked after loading, assisting passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, driving safely, answering passenger inquiries, checking the van's condition regularly, and keeping the vehicle clean. Good time management, reliability, and customer service. Provide secure and safe transportation for passengers. Report any suspicious activity. Provide the highest level of service and maintain safe driving practices. Accurately manage cash, check, and credit transactions, reports, and deposits. Communicate appropriately with passengers and the Senior Center Manager. Maintain a clean and hazard-free van. Participate in staff meetings and other activities as required. Provide information to the public concerning recreation programs, policies, regulations and schedules, answer participant inquiries in person. Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum of eighteen (18) years of age. High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Current CPR and First Aid certifications, or ability to obtain upon hire. A combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills & abilities to perform the job will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE OF
General rules, regulations, practices, and terminology of recreation activities. Requirements of maintaining facilities and grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Oral and written communication skills. Basic record-keeping techniques. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, courtesy and respect.
SKILL IN
Helping lead a variety of recreational activities. Analyzing situations accurately and adopting an effective course of action. Reading, interpreting, applying and explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Maintaining current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions. Communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
ABILITY TO
Establish rapport and maintain cooperative working relationships with user population. Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 25 lbs.
