This position is responsible for the safe operation of the aircraft if manual flying is required during the critical takeoff and landing phases of flight. The EP will assist the GCS Pilot/Internal Pilot (IP) with mission planning, briefing, execution, and debriefings as required. Individuals interested in this position must be willing to travel and conduct flight operations on a regular basis in support of testing, demonstrations, and operations. The EP should also be comfortable performing minor maintenance support duties. Mandatory/Requirement 100+ hours of manual RC Fixed Wing flight time Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) Fixed Wing UAS remote piloting using various hand controllers Qualify airfields per aircraft takeoff and landing requirements Flight logging and reporting Perform system checks and preflight Assist with maintenance requirements Apply Crew Resources Management (CRM) and risk mitigation CONUS travel required in support of operational support requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent civilian/military experience Extensive RC model/hobby experience with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) fixed-wing and multirotor aircraft Must have a FAA Part 107 certification Knowledge of MAVLink parameters, configuration, and telemetry modules Knowledge of Pixhawk autopilots Proficiency in configuring RC equipment (e.g., FrSky, Spektrum) Internal pilot/operator experience Strong organizational skills coupled with an attention to detail is required The ability to work as a team to accomplish mission requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain an active/adjudicated DOD security clearance (Secret or higher), or as required by the contract US citizenship required with a valid US passport
