Job Description

Workshop Consultant (Independent Contractor - Part-Time) The Meadows of Napa Valley - Napa, CA Position Overview The Meadows of Napa Valley is seeking an experienced and reliable Workshop Consultant to support our resident workshop within a vibrant independent senior living community. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on craftsmanship and has a passion for teaching and engaging with older adults. The consultant will provide instruction, ensure safe equipment use, and foster a welcoming and creative environment for residents.
Schedule & Compensation Schedule:
Approximately 6 hours per week
Days:
Minimum of 2 days per week
Pay Rate:
$35.50 per hour
Status:
Independent Contractor (non-employee position) Key Responsibilities Supervise and support day-to-day operation of the community workshop Instruct residents on the safe use of equipment (e.g., table saws, band saws, lathes, and related tools) Evaluate and certify residents for safe use of specific tools and equipment Maintain written records of resident equipment certifications Assist residents with projects, from planning to completion Promote and enforce safety standards at all times Maintain a clean, organized, and functional workspace Identify equipment maintenance or repair needs and communicate accordingly Encourage participation and create a positive, inclusive environment for residents Qualifications Experience with workshop tools and equipment Ability to teach and work effectively with senior citizens Strong communication and interpersonal skills Safety-focused mindset with the ability to assess and manage risk Patient, friendly, and supportive approach to instruction Requirements (Independent Contractor) Must provide a completed W-9 prior to engagement Must successfully complete a background check Must carry General Liability Insurance (minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence) Must comply with all applicable safety standards and community policies About The Meadows The Meadows of Napa Valley is a premier continuing care retirement community (CCRC) dedicated to providing a vibrant, engaging lifestyle for residents.
