Center City and Greater Philadelphia About the role Shuttlebee is hiring drivers to run a dedicated school route serving Greater Philadelphia families. This is not gig work. You're assigned one route with the same 6-9 students and the same stops every school day, and you keep that route for the school year. The kids know you, the parents know you, and you know exactly where you're going. You start as an employee driving our vehicle — no van required, no upfront cost. The middle of your day is yours. Many of our drivers run other work or a business during those hours. Early applicants can also pick up a second 4:30 route for additional shifts. The bigger opportunity We're not just filling seats behind the wheel. We're building the next generation of independent transportation operators, and this job is the on-ramp. Drivers who want to go further can apply for a full scholarship to our two-part training program, which covers transportation operations and small business management. Along the way we provide financial literacy training and walk you through every number before you sign anything.
Path to ownership:
Year one: Drive as a W2 staff driver, learn the route, learn the business.
Lease-to-own van program:
We connect qualified operators with vetted lenders who finance 10-passenger vans specifically for independent transportation operators. You make the payments, you build equity, and the van is yours at the end of the term. Operators who drive their own vehicle earn more per route. Already own a qualifying 9-passenger vehicle? You can skip the financing program entirely and step into an operator role sooner.
Then:
Operate solo for a year, then build out your own company — your routes, your staff, your business. What you'll do Safely transport 6-9 assigned students on a fixed AM and afternoon route Keep consistent, on-time pickups and drop-offs at the same stops each day Communicate clearly and professionally with families, schools, and dispatch Maintain a clean, safe vehicle and complete daily pre-trip checks Follow all local, state, and federal transportation and child-safety regulations (Program participants) Complete operations and small-business coursework, build a business plan, and prepare to operate independently Have the opportunity to take on additional nights/weekend work, on your schedule What we're looking for
Required:
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record and 10 years of driving experience Reliability above everything — families are planning their mornings around you Comfort and patience working with school-age children Ability to pass a background check, child-abuse clearance, and drug screening Consistent availability for both AM and afternoon shifts through the school year Nice to have: Prior passenger transport, school bus, paratransit, or rideshare experience Familiarity with Center City and Greater Philadelphia streets and traffic patterns An entrepreneurial streak and real interest in eventually running your own company Basic comfort with a smartphone app for routing and check-ins You do not need to own a vehicle, and you do not need business experience. We'll teach that part.
