Bus Driver / Client Care Professional Bear-O Care | Day Program | Non-Exempt Make a Difference Every Day! Bear-O Care is looking for a dependable, caring, and safety-focused Bus Driver/Client Care Professional to join our Day Program team. This position is more than driving—it is an opportunity to build positive relationships with our clients while helping them safely get to and from the Day Program each day. The ideal candidate is patient, professional, dependable, and comfortable working with individuals who may have unique care and behavioral needs.
Position Details Schedule:
Monday-Friday Approximately 6:45 a.m.-9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Schedule may vary based on routes, client needs, weather, traffic, and transportation changes Reports to: Transportation Manager No weekends or overnight shifts What You'll Do Safely transport clients between their homes and the Bear-O Care Day Program. Work closely with the Bus Aide and Day Program staff to ensure clients are safely picked up, transported, and released to authorized individuals or locations. Help clients safely board, ride, and exit the vehicle. Maintain a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for clients. Follow assigned routes, traffic laws, and all Bear-O Care transportation and safety procedures. Complete required vehicle inspections, transportation logs, and documentation. Communicate delays, schedule changes, safety concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly. Keep the vehicle clean, organized, and safe. Respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations or challenging client behaviors. Protect client privacy and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Represent Bear-O Care with professionalism, kindness, and respect.
What We're Looking For Required:
At least 20 years of age Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle operated Driving record that meets Bear-O Care's insurance requirements Successful criminal background check Ability to obtain and maintain authorization to drive Bear-O Care vehicles Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions Ability to remain calm and use good judgment in unexpected situations First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of employment, unless required sooner
Preferred:
Previous experience driving passenger vans, small buses, RVs, or similar vehicles Experience working with individuals with disabilities or support needs Spanish and/or American Sign Language (ASL) skills Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Sit and operate a vehicle for extended periods. Enter and exit the vehicle repeatedly. Bend, reach, kneel, stand, walk, and assist with transportation-related needs. Lift, carry, push, and/or move items up to 75 pounds , as required. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work around moving vehicles and traffic. Respond appropriately to unexpected or challenging client behaviors.
