PART-TIME TEMPORARY DRIVER
Location:
Petaluma, CA Compensation:
$20
  • 22/hour
DOE Schedule:
2 days per week to start; may increase to 3 days per week based on operational needs, performance, and productivity

Part-Time, Temporary (approximately 6 weeks)
POSITION OVERVIEW
Sol Landscapes, Inc. is seeking an experienced and dependable Part-Time Temporary Driver to assist with material pickups and deliveries during an approximately six-week employee leave. The Driver will report to the Sol shop at the beginning of each scheduled workday, receive a list of assigned pickups and deliveries, and use a Company-provided truck to transport plants, landscape materials, supplies, equipment, and other items between local vendors, the Sol shop, and active job sites. This position requires substantial prior hands-on experience hauling dump trailers. Candidates must be fully comfortable and proficient with hitching, towing, maneuvering, backing, parking, and safely operating a truck with a loaded dump trailer. This is not a position in which trailer hauling will be taught or learned on the job. A clean and insurable driving record is also an absolute requirement of the position. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to operate Company vehicles under Sol Landscapes' commercial auto insurance requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pick up plants, landscape materials, supplies, equipment, and other items from local vendors as assigned. Deliver materials, supplies, and equipment to crews at active job sites or transport items back to the Sol shop as directed. Safely operate a Company-provided truck for all assigned pickups and deliveries. Safely hitch, tow, maneuver, back, park, and unhitch dump trailers and other Company trailers as required. Properly load, position, and secure transported materials and equipment. Verify pickups and deliveries against assigned lists and communicate discrepancies, delays, or other issues promptly. Assist with loading and unloading materials as necessary. Follow assigned routes and schedules and comply with Company safety requirements and all applicable traffic laws. Promptly report vehicle, trailer, maintenance, or safety concerns.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Substantial prior experience hauling dump trailers is
REQUIRED.
Candidates must already be proficient in safely hitching, towing, maneuvering, backing, parking, and hauling a loaded dump trailer. Clean and insurable driving record is
REQUIRED.
Candidates must maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible to operate Company vehicles under the Company's commercial auto insurance requirements throughout employment. Experience safely operating pickup trucks while towing loaded trailers. Ability to safely load, unload, handle, and secure landscape materials, plants, supplies, and equipment. Dependable and punctual, with the ability to independently and efficiently complete assigned pickup and delivery routes. Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with Company personnel, vendors, and field crews.
TEMPORARY POSITION
This position is being hired on a temporary basis to provide coverage during an approximately six-week employee leave. Depending on operational needs and the demonstrated value of the position, there may be an opportunity for continued employment following the temporary assignment; however, continued employment is not guaranteed. This is an hourly, nonexempt position. All working time must be accurately recorded through the Company's designated timekeeping system and will be compensated in accordance with applicable wage-and-hour requirements.
