Job Description

Job Summary Under general direction and supervision of the Assistant Director Campus Logistics the Part- Time, Limited Term Bus Driver supports campus operations by providing front-line support for the daily operations of the college's shuttle and commercial fleet. This position plays a critical role in supporting college operations by ensuring a fully serviced and available fleet and qualified driver services. This position is an on-call position and will be scheduled based on needs of the campus. This position's primary role will be assigned driving of the GGC motor coach and shuttles. This part-time position may work up to 19 hours per week but is not guaranteed weekly hours. This is a limited-term position funded for two years, with continuation of the position subject to funding. This position based on DOT and FMCSA regulations is subject to pre-employment drug screen, post-accident and random alcohol and drug screenings. This position will be required to maintain a DOT Medical card which is required for holding a current class B license. Georgia Gwinnett College adheres to Board of Regents Human Resources Administrative Practice Manual Policy on Drug Testing. Employees in ¿high-risk¿ jobs on a regular basis shall be subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing for evidence of use of illegal drugs. Additionally, an employee who has notified their supervisor or the Office of Human Resources that they have a drug-related problem and is maintaining employment under Board of Regents Policy 08.02.17, Voluntary Disclosure of Drug Use, shall be subject to random drug testing. Responsibilities Ensures all vehicles and equipment are fully prepped for usage including overall vehicle cleanliness; fuel cards, insurance information, emergency assistance information is up to date and always included in the vehicle; perform pre/post trip inspections to ensure appropriate use of vehicles and equipment Act as commercial driver by providing safe, timely and reliable transportation for all departments as assigned in reservable fleet, late evening and overnight travel required. Respond to instructions and direction provided by the Head Coach or designated College trip supervisor. Refuel bus at conclusion of trip and ensure that keys and gas card are returned to GGC fleet Be watchful for warning signs of any mechanical problems; immediately report all mechanical/maintenance issues to fleet Follow all traffic laws and parking regulations. Ensure that required paperwork is completed before/during/after each trip, including miles driven and hours worked. Should trips require an overnight stay, hotel time is not paid. Hotel and meal charges are paid by the reserving entity Maintain a clean vehicle by performing light cleaning and monitoring for trash Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School or GED Be at least 21 years of age. 1+ year of experience with fleet assets, fleet management, logistics, business operations, or other related experience. Valid Georgia Class B drivers license with passenger/school bus endorsements Be eligible to drive a GGC vehicle as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Use Policy. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education setting, school bus and/or motor coach driving experience. Experience working with a state agency Knowledge of vehicle technologies OSHA safety training Current or previous commercial driver¿s license Must be computer/software savvy (Microsoft Word/Excel, Database) Proposed Salary $20 per hour Salary offer will be dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines.
