Delivery Driver

Sauk Rapids, MN

$29/hr to $32/hr Purpose of the

Position:

The Delivery Driver is responsible for completing assigned deliveries and pick up of merchandise. They are accountable for loading, driving and delivering products; serving as the main contact between the customer and the employer; and contacting prospective customers to make a sale. Ensure top service is provided to customers at business sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive standard route of up to 250 miles/day and deliver merchandise to customers in a timely manner

Load and unload truck with materials for daily delivery route

Scan all products on and off truck during daily loading, unloading and at all customer drop off/pick up sites

Sell welding equipment, materials and supplies to customers using technical knowledge, advising and trouble-shooting problems

Make/take telephone calls and create future orders for customer requests and coordinate delivery schedules

May confer with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed or damaged merchandise

Serve as a liaison to sales and other managers, reports on progress, communicates to appropriate personnel to enhance customer service/support

Operate company vehicle in a professional, safe and courteous manner following all traffic rules

Perform daily safety inspection on truck; check turn signals, tires, prepare and complete all DOT compliance paperwork

Complete dock backings and tailgate backings for regular stops on route

Unload items and process paper work at customer locations by having tickets signed and receiving of payment from time to time

Ensure delivery of appropriate merchandise in accordance with customer invoices

Checks empty cylinders and replace when needed at customer site

Provide customer with receipt and/or credit form for merchandise to be delivered/returned

Return credit merchandise with appropriate paperwork and inform appropriate personnel

Sort through delivery tickets in preparation of next day's route

Double check barcodes, delivery tickets and payments received and forward to billing clerk

Attend sales training and/or conferences as necessary

Other Responsibilities:

Perform other job duties as assigned and fill in for other employees in their absence

Education, Experience and Skills:

High School diploma or equivalency

2+ years of previous customer service experience required

3-5 years of truck driving experience desired

Class A licensure with Hazmat and Air Brakes endorsements

Basic knowledge of gases, cryogenics i.e. pressure and compatibility preferred

Basic knowledge of welding and gases industry such as handling cylinders preferred

Possess good reasoning skills, math aptitude, and the ability to make decisions based on facts and attain precise set limits

Must be a team player with good communication and work well with others

Demonstrate professionalism, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to adjust and interact with all levels of personnel

Must be multitask oriented, organized, have high attention to detail, set priorities and meet deadlines and take pride in one's work

Equipment Used:

Safety gear such as steel toe boots, safety glasses, gloves and hard hat when appropriate

Double axle truck with tailgate lift, 2 wheeler, handcarts and pallet jacks

Company billing and order entry software, known as TIMS

Various plant tools including but not limited to a scanner, ratchet straps, chains, boxes of wire, bungee cords, etc.

Job Specifications/Requirements:
  • Ability to sit 4 to 5 hours a day with frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, and repetitive motions
  • Frequent lifting/carrying 50lbs is required, may at times lift up to 75lbs
  • Reoccurring Pushing/pulling of 150lbs
  • Ability to work indoor/outdoor with hot summer and cold winter conditions where high noise levels are possible
  • Capable of traveling 80% of your day delivering products and working extra hours as needed
