Job Description

Under general supervision, performs driving to and from assigned MSW landfills transporting MSW from Pasquotank County.

The job will consist of the safe, effective and efficient operation of a variety of heavy trucks and trailers including but not limited to: roll-off trucks, transfer trucks, recycling trucks and other heavy equipment of the solid waste and recycling department. This position will serve as a "substitute" when full-time staff request vacation or sick leave, resignations and/or extra waste tonnage is created. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently, ability to climb onto and under trucks and trailers for purpose of performing hauling, safety and maintenance checks. The ability to skillfully and safely operate heavy trucks and trailers, and other equipment used in the handling of solid wasteMust be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid NC CDL Class "A" driver's license, drive straight shift vehicle, safe background check, mechanical aptitude and be able to work independently w/ minimum supervision
