Category Part-Time Jobs in the City of Broadview Heights Status Open Salary $15.92 - $21.67/hour Posted August 3, 2026 8:00 AM Closing Open Until Filled This position is responsible for providing compassionate and respectful transportation services to ambulatory and/or wheelchair residents to and from private homes to the community building, grocery stores and recreational day trip facilities. Position also performs general customer service duties to support the Human Services function, including but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, responding to routine questions, checking in participants and assisting with events, etc. Duties and Responsibilities Transports residents using Wheelchair Van, Senior Bus or Sedan on an as needed basis to/from grocery store, errands, social/recreational trips, community center, etc., obtaining and utilizing roster/directions/maps/GPS. Assists people on/off vehicle, get people seated on the bus, tie down wheelchairs as needed, assure safety and comfort of passengers. Assists residents with lifting and carrying groceries and other parcels. Assists with walkers, wheelchairs and other mobility aids. Operates vehicles for community outreach services. Performs daily operational vehicle inspections including fluid levels, light checks, visual inspection of vehicles, alarms, back up lights, etc. per daily inspection check sheet. Performs installation of Lifeline Equipment by entering a resident's home, installing and testing the home unit. Demonstrates how to operate unit and trains residents on use. Changes batteries as needed. Completes required documentation. Delivers food to residents as assigned. Performs general customer service duties to support the Human Services function, including but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, responding to routine questions, checking in participants and assisting with events, etc. Participates in and completes all required training within deadlines, including but not limited to: Blood borne pathogens, Drug and alcohol training, Defensive Driving Course, Passenger Assistance Training (PAT or DRIVE), First Aid, CPR and AED training. May stake designated driveways for snow removal and plow snow from assigned driveways. Performs related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid Ohio Driver's License.
• 1-3 years related experience required.
• Familiarity with technology including GPS, mobile phones and light computer use (Outlook, Word preferred).
• Within six (6) months after employment, incumbent will have completed Blood borne pathogens training (initial and refresher after one year), Drug and alcohol training (AED), Defensive Driving Course (DDC), Passenger Assistance Training (PAT) or DRIVE (Council on Aging), First Aid and CPR training.
• Acceptable results of criminal background check completed through Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI).
• Ability to provide, post-offer, verification from a licensed medical practitioner of fitness for duty, specifically the ability to drive safely, provide passenger assistance and emergency treatment (first aid, CPR, notification of emergency services) and protect the well-being of clients and the general public.
• Negative pre-employment drug and alcohol screenings and similar post- employment screenings at the discretion of the City.
• Ability to work required schedule.

Miscellaneous Information Work is primarily sedentary although periodic physical effort is required. Must have ability to frequently lift/carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/carry up to 60 pounds. Work requires ability to bend, stoop, sit and stand for extended periods of time, walk, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, speak at an appropriate volume and hear. Must be able to safely operate vehicles including sedans, vans, light transit vehicles (14 passengers) and light trucks and to operate wheelchair lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
