Axton Truck Equipment was founded in 2005 in San Antonio, TX as a van equipment only upfitter. Job Summary We are seeking reliable, safety-conscious On-Call Delivery Drivers to pick up and deliver completed commercial trucks and vans to our customers. This flexible, as-needed role is ideal for individuals who want occasional work on their own schedule — retired citizens are strongly encouraged to apply! Drivers will be contacted as jobs become available and can accept or decline based on their availability. The time slots can start as early as 7 AM and be done by 6 PM (or later) depending on delivery location. On average, you will be called approximately 2 times a week working 6 to 8 hours. Key Responsibilities Safely drive and deliver upfitted commercial trucks (e.g., Class 3-7) and vans to customer locations. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (including lights, brakes, tires, and fluid levels) to ensure roadworthiness. Follow assigned routes using GPS/navigation tools while adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies. Communicate professionally with customers upon arrival, complete delivery paperwork, and obtain signatures as required. Report any vehicle issues, delays, or incidents immediately to dispatch. Maintain a clean driving record and comply with all
DOT/FMCSA
regulations applicable to the vehicles driven. Qualifications & Requirements Valid Texas Driver's License (Class A or B CDL preferred; experience safely pulling and backing trailers highly preferred). Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3-5 years. Minimum 21 years of age (per
FMCSA/DOT
standards for commercial vehicle operation). Reliable transportation to our facility for pickups. Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and customer service orientation. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (pre-employment and random as required). Comfortable driving larger commercial vehicles (experience with box trucks, flatbeds, or similar is a plus but not required — we provide familiarization where needed). Smartphone with reliable service for communication, GPS, and delivery updates. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience driving commercial trucks, delivery vehicles, or auto transport. Familiarity with South Texas roads and geography. Retired professional drivers or those seeking supplemental income with flexible hours. Why Join Us?
