Responsibilities Safely operate vessels rated at 100 tons, ensuring compliance with all maritime regulations and safety protocols. Lead and manage crew members, providing clear direction and fostering teamwork to achieve operational objectives. Conduct thorough pre-departure inspections, including rigging checks and mechanical assessments to guarantee vessel readiness. Oversee navigation, maneuvering, and docking procedures with precision, utilizing advanced navigation tools and charts. Maintain detailed logs of voyage activities, safety inspections, maintenance schedules, and incident reports. Coordinate with management for voyage planning, cargo handling, and logistical support to optimize operational efficiency. Implement rigorous safety procedures, including emergency response plans and safety drills to protect crew and vessel assets. Experience Proven experience as a Boat Captain operating vessels of 100 tons or more in various maritime environments. Military background highly preferred, demonstrating discipline, leadership skills, and familiarity with rigorous safety standards. Strong management skills with experience leading crews in high-pressure situations. Knowledge of rigging techniques necessary for vessel stability and cargo securing operations. Mechanical knowledge related to marine engines, navigation systems, and vessel maintenance is essential. Valid U.S. Coast Guard license or certification appropriate for operating vessels of this size is required. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions at sea while maintaining safety and operational integrity.
