Schedule:

M-F (5:00AM-3:00PM) Must be available for mandatory overtime. J&W Lumber is looking for a full-time California Class "A" licensed driver to make local deliveries to our retail locations in San Diego and Riverside counties. As our driver, you take pride and act in the capacity of our company's ambassador on the road. We are a family-owned retail lumber company that has been in Southern California for over 60 years! This position will be based in Escondido, California. What You Will Do 1. Driving and Vehicle Operation

• Operate commercial vehicles such as semi-trucks, tractor-trailers. 10-Wheeler with the forklift on the back.
• Represent

J&W LUMBER

in a professional manner, both on and off the road.

• Ensure the vehicle is operated safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
• Maintain a valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and follow all safety protocols. 2. Loading and Unloading Cargo
• Inspect and secure load, ensuring cargo is secured safely.
• Unstrap load and verify load against delivery paperwork upon arrival at destination to ensure correct delivery. 3. Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
• Report any mechanical issues or damages to the Distribution Manager.
• Ensure that the vehicle is clean, fueled, and ready for each trip. 4. Safety Compliance
• Follow safety guidelines and policies to ensure safe driving and cargo handling.
• Adhere to DOT regulations and keep accurate logs of hours worked and miles driven.
• Conduct routine checks for tire pressure, oil levels, and other critical systems to avoid breakdowns. 5. Communication and Reporting
• Maintain communication with managers regarding routes, delivery times, and any issues that arise.
• Provide accurate delivery documentation.
• Report accidents, incidents, or delays in a timely manner using proper cell phone procedures. 6. Customer Service
• Interact professionally with clients, warehouses, and customers during deliveries or pick-ups.
• Address any customer concerns or issues while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. 7. Time Management and Scheduling
• Meet scheduled pick-up and delivery times.
• Manage driving hours to comply with DOT regulations on rest periods and work hours.

• Must have a valid California Class "A" driver's license with current medical card
• Driving experience is a must with at least five years along with experience with flatbed trailers.
• Acceptable DMV report and excellent driving record.
• Lumber experience a plus.
• Great people and organizational skills.
• Able to work while bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, or standing.
• Able to handle repetitive motions, walking, or lifting items up to 60 lbs.
• Sound math and problem-solving skills.
• Sound communication skills and knowledge of proper communication via phone
• Able to work in co-ordination with others and under pressure.
