Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Truck Driver to join our logistics team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, to deliver freight efficiently across designated routes. Your expertise in navigating over-the-road (OTR) routes, handling hazardous materials, and adhering to all safety regulations will ensure timely deliveries and exceptional service. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes. Plan and follow efficient delivery routes using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with all Hazardous Materials Regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to ensure safety standards are met; report any mechanical issues promptly. Load and unload cargo accurately, verifying shipment details against delivery documents; secure loads properly for transit. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, and potential issues during transit. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the type of vehicle operated (e.g., hazmat endorsement if applicable). Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across long distances. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized equipment. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck driving. Ability to manually handle freight safely during loading and unloading processes; forklift certification is a plus. Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments. Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling. Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; ability to operate manual transmission vehicles is preferred.
