124PAY RANGE:
$20-$25/hour (Based on experience)GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Working under the supervision of the Solid Waste Department Director, the Solid Waste Truck Operator performs skilled work in the care and operation of refuse collection vehicles used to collect refuse from waste collection sites, residences, and businesses.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Operates refuse collection vehicles that collect and/or dump refuse waste and containers into refuse collection vehicles. Knuckle boom, Rolloff, Rear Loader and Front Loader. 2. Exercises appropriate safety precautions while vehicle is moving or in stationery operation. 3. Completes designated refuse/recycling collection routes/work orders. 4. Judge's heights and distances while truck is in operation. 5. Performs daily inspection of vehicle. 6. Keeps refuse collection trucks and waste collection sites clean. 7. Provides direction to the public for disposal of refuse and/or recyclable materials. 8. Answers routine questions from the public concerning recycling and solid waste laws. Employees will be required to perform other job-related duties as required by the Solid Waste Director.)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of operation, maintenance, capabilities, limitations, and safety aspects of refuse collection vehicles.
- Ability to understand and comply with oral instructions.
- Ability to read street and traffic signs
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment and/or Class B CDL commercial trucks.
REFUSE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
- Possession of a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License.
