ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Service Manager (or designee), the Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe pick-up, transport, and delivery of equipment and related materials. This role operates trucks, trailers, forklifts, tractors, and other motorized equipment as needed. The Delivery Driver also collaborates with store personnel to transport equipment and company-related items between locations. Safely operate trucks, trailers, vans, and other motorized vehicles and equipment. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring compliance with safety standards before departure. Ensure proper loading, weight distribution, and secure tie-down of equipment in accordance with DOT and company regulations. Deliver and pick up equipment in a timely and professional manner. Inspect incoming and outgoing equipment; document and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies. Verify trailer hitch, tongue, safety chains, brake cable connections, tire pressure, and overall roadworthiness prior to transport. Adhere to all company policies and local, state, and federal (DOT) regulations, including compliance with Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) requirements. Plan routes efficiently and utilize navigation tools or electronic devices as required. Complete and submit required transportation documentation, delivery tickets, and related administrative records accurately and timely. Maintain professional communication with customers and team members during deliveries and pick-ups.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Florida CDL Class A required. Failure to maintain company drug-free policy and DOT medical clearance, insurability, or driving eligibility may result in termination. Clean driving record and demonstrated compliance with DOT regulations. Experience operating trucks, trailers, tractors, forklifts, skid steers, and related equipment. Working knowledge of safety standards related to loading, securing, and hauling equipment. Ability to read maps, follow written and verbal directions, and manage delivery schedules effectively. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong verbal communication skills and professional demeanor. Ability to maintain punctuality, attendance, and professional appearance. Ability to remain flexible and focused in a demanding and variable work environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This role requires daily driving and travel, working both indoors and outdoors. The employee will regularly be exposed to varying weather conditions, temperature changes, road conditions, noise levels, and shop or yard environments. Work may involve early morning, evening, or extended hours based on delivery schedules. The position may include exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes, solvents, grease, and oil. The Delivery Driver must follow all company safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to lifting guidelines, and compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to operate vehicles safely for extended periods. Frequent use of hands and feet to control vehicle mechanisms, including steering, pedals, and hand controls. Ability to push, pull, bend, twist, climb, and safely load, secure loads. and maneuver equipment. Ability to lift and carry 50-75 pounds. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and by phone. Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to operate vehicles and equipment safely and pass, as well as maintain DOT physical and medical requirements.
