Job Description

Class A CDL Driver - Heavy Haul / Dump TruckOverview We are seeking an experienced Class A CDL Driver to join our heavy civil construction team. This position requires a skilled commercial driver with proven experience operating dump trucks, one-ton trucks with tag trailers, and 7-axle heavy haul combinations . The ideal candidate will have a strong safety record, excellent equipment-handling skills, and experience transporting construction equipment and oversized loads. This is not an entry-level driving position.
Minimum Requirements Applicants must have:
Valid, unrestricted Class A CDL Manual transmission endorsement / qualification Current DOT medical card / physical Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience Proven 7-axle heavy haul experience Proven experience transporting oversized loads Experience hauling construction equipment and materials Ability to safely operate both Class A combinations and smaller company trucks as required Responsibilities Operate dump trucks, tractor-trailers, heavy haul combinations, and one-ton trucks with tag trailers Transport heavy equipment, construction materials, and oversized loads between jobsites Safely load, secure, transport, and unload equipment and materials Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections Verify load securement before and during transport Check trailer, tires, brakes, lights, chains, binders, straps, and other securement equipment Follow designated routes and comply with all DOT, state, and local transportation regulations Maintain required driver logs, inspection records, mileage records, and other transportation documentation Coordinate with field supervision and dispatch regarding equipment moves and jobsite needs Assist with loading and unloading when required Maintain assigned vehicles and promptly report mechanical or safety concerns Keep trucks and trailers clean, organized, and job-ready Follow all company safety policies and procedures Required Experience Candidates must have direct experience with: Class A commercial driving 7-axle heavy haul combinations Oversized and overweight loads Construction equipment transport Dump trucks Tag trailers One-ton trucks and equipment trailers Manual transmission commercial vehicles Load securement using chains, binders, straps, and related equipment Safety and Compliance Safety is a primary requirement of this position.
Candidates must demonstrate:
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations Proper pre-trip and post-trip inspection procedures Proper load securement practices Safe backing and maneuvering skills Good judgment when operating in active construction sites and tight-access locations Professional and safe conduct on public roads and jobsites Qualifications Minimum 5 years of verifiable commercial driving experience Clean driving record Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle operation and safety requirements Ability to work independently and follow instructions Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel and management Dependable attendance and willingness to work varying schedules as project needs require Strong professional references preferred Experience Verification We are specifically seeking a driver with proven heavy haul and construction transportation experience . Employment history, driving experience, equipment experience, CDL status, MVR, and references may be verified during the hiring process.
