Duties Operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, adhering to all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Safely load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations. Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and maintain accurate delivery schedules across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Transport freight efficiently while maintaining safety standards, including manual handling and truck loading/unloading procedures. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking for mechanical issues, load security, and compliance with DOT regulations. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in accordance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to confirm delivery details, report issues, or delays promptly. Requirements Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements for hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker, or other specialized loads preferred. Experience operating manual transmission trucks and tractor-trailers in various conditions. Knowledge of logistics cargo handling, truck loading/unloading techniques, and freight management. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and route planning software to ensure efficient deliveries. Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance at all times. Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely while loading or unloading cargo. Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and adherence to all traffic laws.
