Position Summary Lockport Steel Fabrication is seeking a safe, dependable, and customer-focused CDL Driver to join our operations team. This role is responsible for delivering fabricated structural steel and miscellaneous metal products to customers throughout the Chicagoland area. In addition to transportation duties, the driver will support plant operations by staging steel inventory, assisting with material handling, and helping receive inbound steel shipments. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a safe work environment, enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, and understands the importance of professionalism when representing the company at customer job sites. Essential Responsibilities Deliver fabricated structural steel and miscellaneous metal products to customer locations throughout the Chicagoland area. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload steel products in accordance with DOT regulations and company procedures. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain required driver logs and records. Move and stage steel inventory within the yard to support production and shipping operations. Assist with receiving and unloading incoming steel material deliveries. Work closely with the Logistics Coordinator, shop personnel, and customers to ensure accurate and timely deliveries. Verify load accuracy and inspect materials before delivery. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and transportation regulations. Represent Lockport Steel Fabrication professionally when interacting with customers, vendors, and jobsite personnel. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Valid CDL license with an acceptable driving record. Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering manufactured products. Strong commitment to workplace safety and promoting a safety-first culture. Interest in the structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication industry. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and compliance requirements. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities. Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or material handling equipment is a plus.
Competitive Total Rewards:
