Job Description
This job description provides a baseline explanation of the requirements an employee is expected to meet for the duration they are in this position for J&L Contracting, LLC. Non-Exempt "Hourly status" Job title Heavy Haul Driver Reports to Fleet Manager Job purpose This position hauls construction equipment and provides excellent service to our clients. Duties and responsibilities Be punctual when arriving to work and returning from breaks or lunch Operate and drive construction equipment to jobsite and load and unload to trailer Securing the load with proper amount of securement Unhooking & hooking to trailers throughout the day Present a positive and professional appearance and attired to clients. Required to do pre and post trip inspections on truck and trailer Responsible for ordering permits for load Dealing with customs Making sure Company policies and procedures are being followed Work in a steady & safe pace Any other duties set forth by the Company Education and Experience Must be 21 years of age or older High school diploma or GED is required , and construction Prefer 5+ years in trucking and construction experience Valid driver's license (CDL-Class A) Knowledge of DOT regulations Skills, Abilities and Knowledge Positive Attitude Good computer skills and knowledge Microsoft software Lift up to 100 pounds up to 30% of the time Excellent multitasking skills Handle pressure well Read and understand the English language Able to successfully follow verbal and written instructions A good team player Excellent attention to detail Good supervisory skills Pro-active thinking skills Working conditions Working conditions at J&L Contracting, LLC may include normal office conditions, enduring hot weather, standing for extended periods of time on concrete flooring, and lifting objects to waist height and overhead. Sitting for up to 6-8 hours and standing and walking for up to 8 hours. Physical requirements Lift and carry up to 100 pounds up to 30% of the time. When needed wear PPE, maintain a steady pace which may require lifting objects above and/or below the waist. Condition of Employment Successful candidate may need to submit to random and/or DOT drug testing throughout employment and successfully pass a background check.
