Job Overview Join our team as a Residential Garbage Truck Driver and become a vital part of maintaining clean, safe, and healthy communities. In this energetic role, you will operate specialized waste collection trucks to efficiently pick up residential waste and recyclables. Duties Safely operate various types of waste collection trucks, including front loader, rear loader, roll-off, dump trucks, side arms, tractor-trailers, and flatbeds. Load and unload waste containers with manual effort and mechanical assistance as needed. Drive through designated residential routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols. Conduct pre-trip inspections of trucks to ensure proper functioning of mechanical systems and safety features. Collect waste and recyclables from residential properties efficiently and courteously. Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, pickups, and vehicle maintenance records. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and supervisors regarding route progress or any issues encountered during collection. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge to perform routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs. Experience operating front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, tractor-trailers, or flatbeds. Proven driving skills with a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), including manual transmission operation if applicable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling waste containers or equipment. Knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices specific to commercial vehicles. Experience in delivery or collection driving with a focus on residential service routes. Familiarity with load & unload procedures for various waste containers using mechanical lifts or manual effort.
