Job Description
Job Overview Join our team as a Commercial Driver's License A Truck Driver. In this vital role, you will operate tractor-trailers, load skids of eggs at poultry barns and deliver to egg processing plants across Northeast Indiana and Central Michigan. Your expertise in commercial truck driving, route planning, and cargo handling will ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all safety regulations. This is a position best suited for a self-driven individual. Duties
- Safely operate semi-truck with a manual transmission during local routes across Northeast Indiana and Central Michigan.
- Load and unload freight using proper handling techniques, ensuring secure placement of cargo such as refrigerated goods, live poultry or heavy freight.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and routine vehicle maintenance checks to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational readiness.
- Document delivery processes accurately, including- mileage logs, delivery logs, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or cargo issues to ensure seamless logistics operations. Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL Class A license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to follow biosecurity protocol put in place at poultry barns, processing plants, and dispatch point.
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely during load & unload freight of varying sizes and weights.
- Experience in delivery driving with a focus on route driving efficiency.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling procedures including truck loading/unloading and securing loads properly for safe transit.
- Flexibility to handle frequent route changes and help fellow drivers.
